Srinagar, Nov 23 (KNO): Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is also the part of newly formed People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), Monday castigated the administration for allegedly ‘confining’ the amalgam candidates contesting forthcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections to secure locations. Senior PDP leader and former MLC, Khurshid Aalam according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) took a jibe at the administration for allegedly confining PAGD candidates to secure locations and allowing others to carry out political activities freely. He said it’s for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that candidates are whisked away on the pretext of security. Aalam said the candidates contesting elections on PAGD ticket have virtually been jailed as they are not being allowed to visit their respective constituencies for campaigning. “It’s unfortunate that our candidates are confined to secure locations, they are virtually jailed while others are allowed to roam free, why is this political discrimination with our candidates,” Aalam told reporters here. Aalam said the movement of PAGD candidates which is an amalgam of several political parties has been restricted only while candidates of other parties enjoy every benefit from the government including security and quality accommodation. He said the authorities offer a single vehicle to seven candidates and also ask them to campaign together. “This political discrimination with our candidates should come to end; we have seen many elections in past but today’s elections are altogether different” PDP leader said as people supports PAGD; some parties fearing humiliating defeat try to get in the way to gain brownie points—(KNO)
